And we're currently live from where....where....??
THE VALLEY!!
Weeee.
I tell you what, there are two...no three...no four things that will get me to go over the hill into 818 territory. They are, my friends Luke & Tara who live by Universal, Arclight Sherman Oaks when Arclight Hollywood isn't showing a film, H&M at the Glendale Galleria and Money. Lucky for me I got three of four of those this weekend.
And if you're like Wtf is this bitch talking about, "what's the valley? Hidden Valley? Ranch?" Well for starters, I can't eat that. Two if you want to know, watch that Nicolas Cage movie 'Valley Girl.' Cause we all know, when looking to answers, watch an 80s rom com for knowledge. Ahhh, if only life were always this easy.
Every now and again I house sit for my friend up here who has an awesome lovely home that belongs to him, his wife and daughter. And I bring my 25 year old red headed single "very much do not own a house with a white picket fence," self to gladly help him out and hang out with a rad dog and play grown up. Although honestly. I instinctively always use the little girls plates and utensils just because I feel inappropriate to use all the big kids stuff.
Anyway, today not only did I get the blessing of traveling up to the land of ostentatiously large cars and bad pizza, but I got to get my hair did too! yayayay! I just discovered this really cool, kind of hole in the wall place called Studio 73. It's got decent prices, a great staff, and an all around super cool vibe. Alex, who does my hair always goes out of his way to make sure it looks great...you know in the whole two times I've gone.
Lucky for me while the dye was seeping into my hair, you know, just a pound of chemicals on my scalp....I was able to have another super important conversation with my friend Micah B while he is in Italy during the whole process, before, during & after. Mostly heart to heart, you know:
I can only imagine the conversation we have about this blog too, where he gives me much warrented shit about being obsessed with the dead cells that hang off my scalp known as my hair. Ah well. #bff#bff
THEN oh MAN, I did get to see my friends Luke & Tara for an epic photo shoot with Luke (Luke Wyatt Photography.) We had a ton of fun walking around, being moderately eye stalked by a number of people and having a general fun time. World, If you need photos, GO TO LUKE. He's super talented.
Here, check out the first of the rad photos to come of this:
Just kidding, that's me when I was five. Here's the real photo:
Afterwords had to run back "home" to nom and shower. I threw together one of them mixed salad things from Von's you know, just whatever, whatever. And it was just whatever, whatever until I realized I brought leftovers from Manderette that I put in the fridge and totally space out on.
And while I suffer my rare valley trips, there is always one friend that I call. Well...it's just become a recent tradition, but we both agreed we're okay with it. His name is Elliot, he's an actor, and he's awesome. But don't worry all you men out there dying to date me, it's not like that. Elliot is my college ex-boyfriend's best friend. (we all remember THAT guy, epic fight in San Francisco guy. Yechh).
Elliot and I suffered through some RAD parties back in 2004, 2005, 2006. Basically blowing up LBC, well he and the ex a bit more then me, but suffice to say it was fucking fun. That's how you should get christianed to California ladies and gents. Move here for college, immediately thereafter date a Long Beach native, and spend a year smoking, drinking, partying, dancing, swimming, exploring, hiking, traveling, and somehow in all of this study. Hey man, I got straight A's, the ex got D's and his parents were beside themselves with confusion of how I pulled that off and he didn't. Quitting tangent now before switching to anger....
I think it's funny, well maybe that's not the right word. But there's something interesting about hanging out with someone you've known since you were 18, like something un-spoken between people who you knew when you were younger. And it stretches back further, the longer you've known the person. Keep them friendships. YEAH.
After some dranks we went to Nic's birthday party!! YEAH Nic, Happy Birthday buddy! Party was overall rockin, good people, good tunes, good drinks, good 1990's Nickelodian on TV. (I mean you can't fight that)
Somehow I took it upon myself to take emoticon pictures with my friends. Why this struck me? Who knows. Do we really need to though? Here's the best of:
And bless my lucky stars, I got a veggie burger out of it too. Unfortunately I was too busy sipping a stella and taking photos of people to take a photo of food. Oh well.
Feeling the Zzz's take over.
Over and Out.
