Jour Cinq

Good Morning Vietnam!!

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

I've got to stop watching the news when I first wake up....or just wake up earlier so I can watch more of it. Every now and then I try to give fox news a try...and after suppressing the immediate urge to throw up I click the channel away.

Today we learn that Barack Obama is not only out of touch with the country, but spends to much time at Harvard. Something that's simply hysterical said by a multi-millionare who himself went to Harvard. Can someone PLEASE start paying attention to what's being said? PLEASE please please! Just last week the supreme court ruled that cops can strip search you for ANY reason, meaning if you're arrested for a parking ticket, YOU can be stripped searched. Corporations are people, Bush won the election...can we get rid of the supreme court now? They obviously are 100% out of touch with what their job actually is.

MOVING ON, today has been decreed as hippie day! well...just for me...and not even by choice. Mostly because my jeans I generally wear with this top are dirty and I forgot to do laundry last night because I was super busy....super duper busy *battlestar gallactica*

Okay to my defense, I only put in a couple episodes before writing my webseries. AH I am so excited to release it, and I wish I had photos that I could put here to like be all witty about it, but oh well.

Anyway , for lunch we got Mandarette which is pretty decent Chinese food. However we live in LA, so lets be honest, it's only going to be okay. That's one draw back for me about the city of Los Angeles, there's just no decent Chinese food.

In all the places I've lived (NYC, DC, DF) there's always been baller chinese food. My favorite place ever is called Chinatown Garden, it's in Chinatown in DC and I head straight there whenever I go back home. They have an AMAZING Vegetarian menu on top of an AMAZING not vegetarian menu. I don't care what you say Yelp. This place is Bomb.Com

Last time I went there with Lisa over X-mas we got stuck sitting in the window alcove which was annoying and super weird because they were like two feet away. Right away I picked up on how up-tight this couple looked. Like just polite missionary style (if ever) couple. So me and her launched into our regular talk...which involves you know, sex, vaginas, expletives. Not loudly or rudely, but just as is. Sure enough, the couple moved within minutes and we had a delightful window alcove to ourselves.

For lunch I made myself a DELICIOUS feast. Yeah I know I just went on a tangent about bad Chinese food, but whatever, hungry, don't care. Only problem is afterwords I realized...the spring roll I had might have had egg in it....or was it an egg roll? I don't know!!! This could be my first accidental break, it was totally un-intentional, my hunger just overcame my desire to save chickens and read the label.

Then for dinner....mmmm...are you ready? are you ready? M Cafe. (thanks paul!)

Now I HATED that restaurant before, I don't know why. I just did. Maybe Vietnam flashbacks from the old job that ordered it so much. But now I am obsessed with it. holy god, their vegan club.YESYESYES. Tempeh Bacon, Veganise, Tomato's, Avocados, carrots, organic lettuce, vegan cole slaw. YUMMMMM!!

End the day right with a visit from a friend to the office and then....MANI PEDI'S!! YEAH! WOMEN'S LIB!!! Okay, I just have to say, if you're reading this and you live in the city of Los Angeles, go get your nails done at Moon Nails NOW if not sooner. That place is like god's gift to women (besides president santorum of course). It's only $37 and it's worth every penny. And today I had the pleasure of being joined by Sammi.

After a few hours of spa pampering, discussing careers, men(boys), politics, friends, life, we very appropriately made our way to the Glendale Galleria to do some shoopppppppinnggg!!

Why I like the Glendale Galleria: It's the grove, BUT ITS NOT THE GROVE. Designed by the same master creators, there's parking, there's the same stores...it's not as crowded, it's not as "coveted" it's not as pretentious. Oh and also once I saw a petting zoo there. It does have a lot of weird quirks...like a bathroom attendent...ostentatious decorations....but whatever, I'll give it that.

Another reason why I liked Glendale Galleria....THEIR EPIC H&M Oh my god, I could get lost in that store and live there if I had the chance...I went for two things. Hat & Black sweater. I only got one but that's okay. I got some rad pants & sunglasses too

Quote from Sassy, "Don't let me spend more then 60 dollars. Quote from Sammi, "Don't let me buy a grey t-shirt"

Welp that's cool. ANNND enter LA Friday night. I suggest that we check out the 4100 bar as I hadn't been there for a while. Honestly, I'm trying to find a new haunt, as we've already established Birds is no longer a variable because of sleaze factor. 4100 however did not make the cut.

I mean it was fun, there seemed to be a diverse enough crowd, but something about it just didn't feel right. Not in the sense that it was sketchy, it just did not have the vibe I wanted to be the place I frequent on Saturday nights. Maybe it's just to generic...yeah that's it. It's just a bar. SO if you want to go to a bar bar on a friday night with decent priced drinks, go to 4100!! How's that for a pitch?

However, I did have a blast with Sabrina and her friend Laura who just moved here. Ahhhh to remember those days. One thing I did not enjoy though was TWO guys, count them, one, two, who while walking past me LIFTED UP MY SKIRT.

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT.

Have we progressed so far as a society that it's now suddenly okay while drunk to violate women? Who raised these boys? It's lucky for them I wasn't angry Sassy last night or else I would have gone off on them like a motherfucker. I wish I had in retrospect, but it happened so quickly I didn't even have time to think about it. Men, here's an image I want you to remember.

So next time you think it's cute to lift up a girls skirt, or slap her ass, or rape her or trample on her freedom as a woman, remember she was once a girl, hanging out with her grandma, so excited and nervous to go dance in her adorable ballet recital for her parents. TREAT WOMEN WITH RESPECT.

On that note, I ended with two hefewizen's down (orange's are vegan!) and one gifted vodka tonic per a co-worker I ran into. Friday night complete and beyond satisfactory due to amazing friends :)

God Bless America.

Jour Quatre

I have a splinter!! AH.

Now there's an opener.

FUCK I want this splinter out of my hand.

Anyway, today, lets see how did we start? Well just normally that's for sure. I did however learn today that Mitt Romney is accusing Obama of being a flip-flopper? I mean COME ON. What is this?? Honestly?? Mitt Romney has changed his stance on EVERYTHING in this campaign. Bahh. This statement alone made me decide I'm going to join up with the Obama campaign come this summer.

It repulses me how twisted this country has become in terms of our national political arena right now. How did we reach a world where suddenly birth control is on trial? Oh and don't forget your two options here, you can either be pro healthcare, excuse me Obamacare or a true American Patriot, (remember pro health care also means dirty commie.) I'm tired of waiting for this country to wake up. Time to make a change!

And oh the blessed monotony that comes with working a 9-6, 5 days a week, and look! It's already entered my veganism in the form of vegan butter and toast. Ah well, get to it, get to it! See guys, being vegan is easy peasy.

This is boring. Here's a picture of the pretty flowers on my desk. Ooooo

I'll tell you what's not monotonous though finally switching up from Loteria to Sharkey's Woodfire Grill for thursday snacks. Sooo Siccccck of Loteria. Oh my god, every Thursday forever (since November) Last week you can even quote me in saying "if I have to eat one more quesidilla from Loteria I'm going to die" It's not even that they are that bad, just so many of them....always....ughhh

But don't fear Sassy...you will come to your own rescue! (as I control the food here.) And I have to say, sharkeys >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Loteria. (get it, that's a lot of greater thens...)

Not only did we get double the food for the same price, the manager was super nice, it was efficient and yes we can and are going to talk about the tofu vegan tacos. OMNOMNOMNOM. Look at this entirely vegan plate, just LOOK at it.

Segway, it always blows my mind when I talk to people in other countries. Like here I am having an ichat with Micah Brenner whose freaking in ITALY and I'm in Los Angeles. How does this happen? While I'm at the same time chatting with Corrin whose just a few miles away at another job. Again to tie in, it still baffles me how we can be so advanced as humans in one way and so backwards in another... And of course this one of the things spent our time talking about from other sides of the world:

In other news, in case you're wondering how to get rid of a splinter...

As it turns out, I didn't have to get involved with raisins, as I just took some tweezers and hacked away at my hand. YAY! No more splinter! Vegan Pizza for everyone!!

And how does one conclude a day like this? a day of Vegan errands that I have been miserably putting off due to complete lack of time. Yes you can do errands on a scooter and in fact probably a lot quicker then you could on a car. Dry Cleaning, Misc, Grocery shopping....wow, bumping Thursday night!

I did however finish editing Episode I of my webseries that I am SO pumped to release, more info on that probably in the coming weeks....get pumped...get pumped...

Hey Government! GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY VAGINA!

Jour Trois

Pardonnez-moi for the day break, I spent more time then deserved being angry at a certain ex-boyfriend yesterday morning and figured to prevent myself from writing a super long rant about how he's a ly....you know what, he doesn't even deserve blog space. Never mind. Moving on :)

Today I woke up, very much not wanting to get out of bed at all. You know those days (most days) when it's just like noooooo, moreeeee sleeeeeep. But my alarm clock knows me all too well. At 7:15 sharp, entirely not planned I was awoken by the sound of the title sequence track for Downton Abbey playing SUPER LOUD, and if there's one song that's gonna get you up and going to start your day....

Yeah, this is becoming a thing now. Oh Mary & Cousin Matthew, YES! They're engaged! Finally!! Yeah, may have got teary eyed in that snow scene. So what's next? Spring Wedding? Summer Wedding? And what of Pomook? Oh MY!

So I woke up, said "Frack me!" and realized that I was cross referencing epic television shows and that I truly am single. WHO CARES! Thanks to my other equally (almost...well not legally) single friend Micah Brenner for this new addiciton. Whatever I'm only on episode 10 of battlestar galactica after...like two weeks...sure two weeks...Btw, do these people ever make it to earth? Don't tell me (I;ve already read the wikipedia page, you can tell me)

In addition to waking up to an epic soundtrack, first notification on my phone was a sweet e-card aplogy from Brett. (remember him from vegan go around one.) Anyway, he and I had an epic april fools plan that went NO WHERE cause he dropped the ball. Ah well, there's always next year...muahaha. Anyway, thanks for the card brett. This ones for you:

For breakfast this morning I was ferociously hungry after working out late last night, So I went re-uinted with my old friend "Earth Balance whipped butter" and had me some toast, Go Lean crunch and soy milk. And honestly, it really doesn't taste any different. Why is this so easy this time around?

Today it was established as well that my half birthday party will be at Mohawk Bend. Yeah, half birthday. I mean why just have one? I had three parties last year, might as well make it an even four! right? You're only 25 once then it's over the hill you go into retirement...at least I think that's how it works.

I was going to order some restaurant called "the Flowering Tree" but there was no answer on their phone which just leads me to the conclusion their a commie hippie cult with a name like that and no messaging service. So instead I went to try Hugo's. and Oh. My. God.

YES.

yes x TWO

Okay, if you haven't been, you just gotta. Stop reading this blog right now and go nom there! I mean this place was delicious!!!! (Soo many exclamation points) I got an epic asian stir fry: grilled, marinated organic tofu, snow peas, fresh tomatoes, broccolini, mushrooms, jicama, green onions, cilantro and a mild sesame-chili sauce served with a rice. Half an egg roll....MMMMMMMMMMMMM

Seriously, I did not know vegan food could taste like this. Imma get preachy right now and say, world, go vegan, eat bomb food. It's worth it and delicious. Wow, words of knowledge to little meat eating sass: You might end up staying vegan 4life.

I wonder now that I have no relationship drama to fill this blog with, what am I supposed to use to take up space? Maybe I'll go on a political rant at some point in the near future (like tomorrow) or perhaps I'll just talk more about television mini-dramas. The point being, as a single, I now have infinitely more time to actually do things I want to do, instead of doing whatever someone else wants...which is pretty nice, in a weird way. I can learn french, brush up on history, take up new hobbies, travel, the world is my freaking oyster!! Yeah!! BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!

And speaking of things I want to do...you know what I want for dinner? F*cking VEGAN MAC N CHEESE. Yeahhhhh. From Hugos of course, wow. That was so good it almost tasted real...I think...I don't know. I asked for vegan. Let's hope I didn't just accidentally eat a cow.

Remind me to go on a rant about our education system re: my experience taking french class at Santa Monica college. I can't believe the standard of education our country has allowed itself to sink too. But perhaps not best to go on rant when I'm about to fall asleep all over this computer.

I leave you with this:

Over and out.
