Jour Vingt

It's SATURDAYCATURDAYIKEADAY

you know what that means? It means get shit done day. YEAH. Today I opened with the usual boring vegan cereal and fruit that was too boring to take a photo of.  I was also too shameful after last night to be playing along right now.

Today we start with work work work work. WORK. work work workwork. and it never ends, that's the crazy part, like when will I not have something to do? Never apparently.

After I finally got a whole bunch of ish done, I put my boot straps on and did my hair. We're doing a "tomboy" comb-over today, and I have to say, I'm kind of in love with this/am going to do my hair like this forever and ever...or at least until it goes out of style.

Start with going to the bike shop and buying a new helmet, since some asshole animal peed on my other one. (dick) Like who does that?? come on animals! pee on plants, not bike helmet. And whenever i go into Honda of Hollywood, I always get what I need but I get treated like a dinosaur in the modern age. Yeah, I'm a girl, yeah, I ride a bike. Don't be a dick, kthnx And am now the proud owner of two helmets. YEAH.

So today we continue the Redecorating Saga! I know you all are super stoked on this. Well, at least my followers on pintrest are. I have no idea how that site actually works, just that people seem to be liking what I'm posting. That's cool!

On the purchasing agenda today: New night stand & Table lamp! Project Redecorate: GO!

As stated earlier, I drive a vespa sooo it's pretty illogical for me to head up to Burbank in the hopes of putting a bedstand on the back of my two wheels. But, Sammi was kind enough to come with me up over the hill to the vast land of Ikea since she shares my deep love for this sweedish masterpiece.

Here's the thing, how can you not like Ikea? I mean, it's pretty much heaven on earth. You get to play around and pretend you live in all these amazing places.Voici my montage du Ikea.

I wish I could live in ikea. Well, I guess I can. ...and I am.

Super sad though when they didn't have my lamp! Boo! But thanks to Sammi I was able to find a very nice lamp instead. Could I have waited? ...Probably not considering my old one was melting/about to catch on fire. Orange Lamp & Orange hat, and wow I've just figured out that Sammi is executing a not to subtle plot to make everything I own orange.

Upon returning we began the task of assembling this beast while simultaneously getting ready to go out. And I have to say, I am very impressed with Sammi's IKEA assembling skills. She either has had lots of practice or needs to become a man so I can figure out a way to marry her.

We went to this super cool art show in the Industrial District, and for those of you how don't know what the Industrial District is, it's kind of like Brooklyn, but with parking, no street traffic, and about 5 times as dangerous. (well, then most area's of brooklyn.)

The Industrial District harbors one of my favorite restaurants called "Church & State," that I really do want to figure out a way to go back to soon. They have a delicious eclectic menu and delicious eclectic drinks. If you ever want to go on an adventure, go to this restaurant.

So Sammi and I got all fashion pretentious dressed up and headed on down south to our warehouse fashion show. The entire time I did feel like I was in some TV show or something, because it did feel like an event that was unreal. Filled with lots of "too cool for school" people of all ages, free food, free drinks. (you know...three appetizer platters, but whatever).

The show was super fun and I may or may not have met someone. Who knows? (I do)

End night with me thinking it's a great idea to finish building my night stand post alcohol unit consumption, and by god. I did it. It may have taken me until 2, but I did it.

Jour treize

Welp, last night I came home to a not painted wall. So THATs cool. Ugh. It still looks like this.

Anyway today I woke up and just went to it!! WORK WORK, MUSH, Sassy MUSH! I am a working machine. (throw in some vegan cereal in there) sorry I forgot to take a photo because I was too busy over-extending myself.

How funny (I guess), weekends when you're single can actually be spent doing things that YOU want to do, I spent today cleaning, writing, learning french, working out, painting, you know being all artistic and shit, like the artsy vegan hippie that I am. MAN. So fun being single.... (actually it's pretty fun)

Finally I surfaced around 5PM to figure out how the hell to get my bike from Mary's place. Turns out the solution was, TAKE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION.

Now, some of you might be wondering...wait, there's public transportation in LA? I assure there is...you know you've seen it. It's that big elephant sized vehicle that always gets in your way when you ride in the right lane.

I remember when I was with MS he totally flipped when I told him that I take the bus from time to time. "You don't take the bus!" "I assure you, I do." because...uhhh...YEAH I take the bus. I didn't have a vespa until 2009 which means I spent 6 years living in Southern California without a car. Public Transportation is AWESOME. It's free, saves the environment... and is a great resource when you're going out into hollywood and wanna get crunk.

So today I trecked through two hours just to get from Silverlake to the grove. (ugh) but I made it out alive! and with only one attempt of being accosted by a homeless man.

No photo, thought it might be rude to take photo of people on the bus

also homeless man scared me.

However at Mary's we enter the problem that my bike is in her backyard...which is locked by a fence. I assumed it would be as easy as the first time I did hopped this bad boy...but evidently not. I went to hop up that beast and...got stuck. Then a very nice mexican man shouted at me from down the alley "Hey, you need some help?" Me: "Suree..!" Then when I got stuck AGAIN, ripping my favorite pair of pants (UGH) another mexican man shouted over, "Hey you guys need some help?"

Insert Micah B's commentary "I like how these guys didn't ask if that was your house. Instead they just went to 'do you need some help.'" Me, "Ahhh, come on! Have you seen this face?"

Anyway, the nice men boosted me over the fence, I hopped on the bike and sped the fuck out of there.

In the spirit of public transportation Sammi and I decided to take the subway to Colleen's birthday party downtown! YEAH! GET IT. VROOM VROOM. (or something)

Okay, but here's the problem with the LA subway, besides you know, not enforcing people to pay to take it. The time schedule! It's so whack! Like the trains only come every 15 minutes and it stops running at midnight!! What is this ish?? What is it?? Wutever, NBD.

Colleen's party is at this super awesome bar/restaurant called Senor Fish. I went their for fourth of July last year and had a blast. The food is supeerrrrr good. I didn't really want to press for ordering tough so instead just ate a WHOLE buncha chips.

I really liked the vibe of the place, maybe it was also just being surrounded by good company, but I feel like overall the place was super chill. Rad outdoor area, a dance floor, Noms, Drink, MMM sign me up. So yes, check this place out if you go downtown. And GOOD PICK COLLEEN!

Due to a superb hook up as well we all were able to get some free drinks, and you know what. You can't fight that. Nope you can't. And yes I will have that tequila shot. (again, rave drink review here)

Oh yeah and more faces happened.

Sammi and I ran (literally) back to the subway to make sure we caught one before the whole situation shut down. (also I was hoping to not run into an ex...mrrrraggh...and she had to work early) We must've grabbed one of the last one because the whole train was more or less deserted, save two quite tipsy young hipsters and some weird sculpture of a man hanging from the ceiling. Oh Los Angeles....you weird weird friend.

Now that we left to go to bed early, we both realized how FAMISHED we were and decided to hop to the nearest diner, known as Fred 62. In the past I really liked fred 62, but I have to say no mas. Strike one, could not sub cheese w/tofu (that I knew they had), strike two, they left mayo on my sandwich, strike three, they CHARGED FOR BBQ SAUCE. wtf is this?!?!? You don't JUST order onion rings, you order onion rings ...AND, this I find to be super steep and uncalled for. Fred 62, you LOSE.

So in a sense I broke my veganism by eating that mayo, but you have to understand, I WAS FAMISHED!!!!

Did I watch battlestar galactica when I got home? I don't know, do most vegans eat lettuce?

Jour Cinq

Good Morning Vietnam!!

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

I've got to stop watching the news when I first wake up....or just wake up earlier so I can watch more of it. Every now and then I try to give fox news a try...and after suppressing the immediate urge to throw up I click the channel away.

Today we learn that Barack Obama is not only out of touch with the country, but spends to much time at Harvard. Something that's simply hysterical said by a multi-millionare who himself went to Harvard. Can someone PLEASE start paying attention to what's being said? PLEASE please please! Just last week the supreme court ruled that cops can strip search you for ANY reason, meaning if you're arrested for a parking ticket, YOU can be stripped searched. Corporations are people, Bush won the election...can we get rid of the supreme court now? They obviously are 100% out of touch with what their job actually is.

MOVING ON, today has been decreed as hippie day! well...just for me...and not even by choice. Mostly because my jeans I generally wear with this top are dirty and I forgot to do laundry last night because I was super busy....super duper busy *battlestar gallactica*

Okay to my defense, I only put in a couple episodes before writing my webseries. AH I am so excited to release it, and I wish I had photos that I could put here to like be all witty about it, but oh well.

Anyway , for lunch we got Mandarette which is pretty decent Chinese food. However we live in LA, so lets be honest, it's only going to be okay. That's one draw back for me about the city of Los Angeles, there's just no decent Chinese food.

In all the places I've lived (NYC, DC, DF) there's always been baller chinese food. My favorite place ever is called Chinatown Garden, it's in Chinatown in DC and I head straight there whenever I go back home. They have an AMAZING Vegetarian menu on top of an AMAZING not vegetarian menu. I don't care what you say Yelp. This place is Bomb.Com

Last time I went there with Lisa over X-mas we got stuck sitting in the window alcove which was annoying and super weird because they were like two feet away. Right away I picked up on how up-tight this couple looked. Like just polite missionary style (if ever) couple. So me and her launched into our regular talk...which involves you know, sex, vaginas, expletives. Not loudly or rudely, but just as is. Sure enough, the couple moved within minutes and we had a delightful window alcove to ourselves.

For lunch I made myself a DELICIOUS feast. Yeah I know I just went on a tangent about bad Chinese food, but whatever, hungry, don't care. Only problem is afterwords I realized...the spring roll I had might have had egg in it....or was it an egg roll? I don't know!!! This could be my first accidental break, it was totally un-intentional, my hunger just overcame my desire to save chickens and read the label.

Then for dinner....mmmm...are you ready? are you ready? M Cafe. (thanks paul!)

Now I HATED that restaurant before, I don't know why. I just did. Maybe Vietnam flashbacks from the old job that ordered it so much. But now I am obsessed with it. holy god, their vegan club.YESYESYES. Tempeh Bacon, Veganise, Tomato's, Avocados, carrots, organic lettuce, vegan cole slaw. YUMMMMM!!

End the day right with a visit from a friend to the office and then....MANI PEDI'S!! YEAH! WOMEN'S LIB!!! Okay, I just have to say, if you're reading this and you live in the city of Los Angeles, go get your nails done at Moon Nails NOW if not sooner. That place is like god's gift to women (besides president santorum of course). It's only $37 and it's worth every penny. And today I had the pleasure of being joined by Sammi.

After a few hours of spa pampering, discussing careers, men(boys), politics, friends, life, we very appropriately made our way to the Glendale Galleria to do some shoopppppppinnggg!!

Why I like the Glendale Galleria: It's the grove, BUT ITS NOT THE GROVE. Designed by the same master creators, there's parking, there's the same stores...it's not as crowded, it's not as "coveted" it's not as pretentious. Oh and also once I saw a petting zoo there. It does have a lot of weird quirks...like a bathroom attendent...ostentatious decorations....but whatever, I'll give it that.

Another reason why I liked Glendale Galleria....THEIR EPIC H&M Oh my god, I could get lost in that store and live there if I had the chance...I went for two things. Hat & Black sweater. I only got one but that's okay. I got some rad pants & sunglasses too

Quote from Sassy, "Don't let me spend more then 60 dollars. Quote from Sammi, "Don't let me buy a grey t-shirt"

Welp that's cool. ANNND enter LA Friday night. I suggest that we check out the 4100 bar as I hadn't been there for a while. Honestly, I'm trying to find a new haunt, as we've already established Birds is no longer a variable because of sleaze factor. 4100 however did not make the cut.

I mean it was fun, there seemed to be a diverse enough crowd, but something about it just didn't feel right. Not in the sense that it was sketchy, it just did not have the vibe I wanted to be the place I frequent on Saturday nights. Maybe it's just to generic...yeah that's it. It's just a bar. SO if you want to go to a bar bar on a friday night with decent priced drinks, go to 4100!! How's that for a pitch?

However, I did have a blast with Sabrina and her friend Laura who just moved here. Ahhhh to remember those days. One thing I did not enjoy though was TWO guys, count them, one, two, who while walking past me LIFTED UP MY SKIRT.

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT.

Have we progressed so far as a society that it's now suddenly okay while drunk to violate women? Who raised these boys? It's lucky for them I wasn't angry Sassy last night or else I would have gone off on them like a motherfucker. I wish I had in retrospect, but it happened so quickly I didn't even have time to think about it. Men, here's an image I want you to remember.

So next time you think it's cute to lift up a girls skirt, or slap her ass, or rape her or trample on her freedom as a woman, remember she was once a girl, hanging out with her grandma, so excited and nervous to go dance in her adorable ballet recital for her parents. TREAT WOMEN WITH RESPECT.

On that note, I ended with two hefewizen's down (orange's are vegan!) and one gifted vodka tonic per a co-worker I ran into. Friday night complete and beyond satisfactory due to amazing friends :)

God Bless America.
