Jour Onze

Well, the blog has officially reached well over 1,000 hits. And evidently I'm big in Russia & the UK (oooo) Yeah, my home people! Ukranian's unite! Lets go eat some pirogi's! Can I eat Pirogi's? No...I don't think I can anymore. Boooo. Related note: best Ukranian restaurant I went to a few years back with my friend Anna and I went to in Manhattan, Veselka. OMNOM.

So lets start with today. It in fact is NOT raining. Yippie!

But it is f*cking cold.

What is up with this weather? Seriously?? Winter Yetti...I'm looking at you. I swear when I find you, we're gonna have a throw down and sunshine is going to shine through them clouds and LA will finally feel like LA again and not like every other city in this country.

For vegan breakfast I got so sick of vegan toast that I went straight to...a vegan salad from the Alcove! (omnomnom) So I eat salad for breakfast? Whatever. It was gifted to me by a co-worker the day before and still tasted great the next day, throw in some spinach, tofu, avocado, pecans, apples, vinaigrette. YES. Please. But, in my weirdo "I eat salad for breakfast" defense I was only able to eat about three bites of it before becoming totally full. I guess that's why people don't eat salad for breakfast...

For lunch today I impulse called Sabrina just as she was out the door to do some much needed shopping because....she GOT A JOB! YAY!!! (and in this economy)(please read in yiddish accent.) And it was even off the UTA list, which I thought was just a newsletter sent out to those hoping for a new job to encourage them to commit suicide for population control since no one ever gets a job from there. Regardless, Congrats Sabrina!!!

I was really craving an avocado roll for some reason, so we went to Kabuki down the street. Now besides the company at lunch being excellent, I'd just give this restaurant a B-, just no real substance in it and the service was super MEH/borederline bad. The whole place feels generic...but I guess that's to be expected. Give me something unique YO. It did s till do the fix nonetheless. (when in doubt as a vegan, just go asian cuisine. Easy)

We had a very lovely discussion about what's going on with our lives now over some miso soup..edemame, veggie tempura...mmmm. And as it seems now I am dating my career, perhaps one of the best boyfriends I've had. He's there for me when I need him, he's supportive, understands me, knows when to go away and sleeps with me every night! Yay cheesy justification for not getting laid! But in all seriousness, there is no time for dating these days for me as Sabrina and I discussed. It's either all or nothing. Like serious boyfriend that I can see when I want, or nothing, because that in between stuff is Bullshit and a waste of time. (no not still just a wee bit bitter over break up with MS)

And then at the end of the day...one of the best things EVER happened to me....

I saw an acupuncturist!!!!!!!!
...That probably wasn't what you were expecting.

Now you won't understand this if you don't have CHRONIC SEVER BACK PAIN EVERY F*CKING DAY. But if you do....imagine if you went somewhere and 90 minutes later...it was magically gone. Yeah. best thing EVER. This woman Stephanie Hayman was AMAZING. She is located in a cool office in Larchmont Village and I immediately felt calm, relaxed, and ready to get poked with needles. Look at me...all Vegan and Chinese Medicine getter now.

But honestly the experience was just oh my god, can't stop gushing about it. Afterwords it was like magic. All my pain just vanished, POOF. GONE. And she was super sweet and stayed later/let the appointment go longer to make sure I got the treatment that I needed. So yes. HIGHLY recommend.

Afterwords, I went to my wifey's house to pick up her car for ye ol' Car switch. Well vespa for car switch. I had to run errands involving a car, plus it was going to be raining and then of course getting Micah from the airport tomorrow. (Italy, wutever.)

Her roomate has joint custody with his ex girlfriend of this dog...and it scared the shit out of me. Like, WHAT IS THIS THING?! ARE YOU AN ANIMAL? If so, that's an animal I would eat cause it just looks retarded. I'm sorry. Just straight up retarded.

Now we're off to step four, HOME DEPOT PAINT CHOICE. Well first run into old college friend, Cindy (! small world!), then HOME DEPOT PAINT CHOICE (Exotic Purple). For the record the way that sounds in my head is Home De. Pot. So that's how it should be read in this blog.

And I'm spent. Can't wait to come home Friday and have my room magically be purple, YEAH.

Jour Dix

It's official. The cravings HAVE started. But not for cheese...in fact the more I think of cheese, the more it seems super gross to me. How weird is that? What it is for, is delicious....mouth watering...milk. Chocolate. MILK CHOCOLATE!!!!!

Maybe it's the rain, Yeah, rain must start chocolate cravings... since I woke up and it was coming down. Bahhhh. Insert my ughhhh here for three reasons, one because I ride a scooter, two because I realized I forgot to cover my vespa in it's protective rain thing and three because I really didn't feel like getting out of bed to do it.

Lucky for me (and Los Angeles), the rain magically stopped! So I guess them weather forecasts were wrong and it would be a day of sunshine and spring weather right?! WRONG. COLD. Where is that Winter Yetti hiding! I'm going to hunt it, trap it, and make it stop making this weather so cold. Yes, I am under the impression that a winter Yetti has total control of the weather. And yes in my world Yetti has two T's. Let me have my fantasy.

Oh and what's that I find when I walk into work? VEGAN COOKIES? ...wait are these the vegan cookies? I have no idea. I decided against eating them :/ as much as I really...really wanted to....Instead it's vegan toast with my daily glass of Emergen-C.

And SHOCKER, Rick Santourm is out of the campaign??!!!! I TOTALLY DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING! Now we get to see how this battle goes on, Barack Obama v. Mitt Romney. Ugh. It's like last time, I really fail to see how any logical person can think that Mitt Romney is fit to run our country. Like....he's changed his stance on everything, he has no read on what it's like to actually struggle or shed sweat while working a real job that you really earned by your own right.

For lunch....I had the best thing.

Ever.

Like really ever.

Forever forever ever.

The Alcove: Vegan Wrap grilled corn, golden squash, asparagus and red bell pepper, hummus, avocado, wild arugula, tomato and balsamic vinaigrette, wrapped in a spinach tortilla, side salad, add Tofu. HOLY JESUS. Yeah. THAT GOOD.

Michele got one as well and we were literally sitting next to each other just musing about the food as we ate it. "oh my god, this is so good." "I can't believe this, this is so good." Although the Alcove messed up our order a little bit, I kind of didn't care because of how good my sandwich was. But, low and behold they earned MORE points when they called up later to check on everything, I told them they messed up, and a nice woman apologized profusely and offered to bring the office free pastries on Friday to make up for it. Alcove, you Win. Capitol. W.

Wait, lets just think about that delicious wrap for a minute. Mmmmmm

I'll tell you exactly what else I did today...WORK. Workworkworkworkwork. yes, little sass your life dream of over-extending yourself will come true I promise you! and by all means, I'm not complaining, in fact I love it. BRING IT ON. BRING IT. cause I CAN DO IT.

Here's something else. You ready? (and this totally doesn't count). I spaced out and reached in the fridge for a snack and ended up with a piece of cheese, took a bite...and SPIT IT OUT. Because 1) I'm vegan but 2) it actually tasted gross to me. Omg. Wtf.....WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME?!?!?! I don't understand??? ...or maybe the cheese was just rubber cheese.

Now off to Home Depot in this outfit:

Well... I put a sweatshirt on.

So one 25 year old vegan pulled up on her vespa to the big ol' parking lot of Home Depot, marched on in and got SOME PAINT SAMPLES. YEAH

So excited, so excited!

Before we go on, let's take a look at my room now for the record. TO go back to when this is all said and done. I'll give you the other half later, I got too excited to paint.

Finally around midnight after 4 hours of writing, 1 of french, 1 of working out and a nice heart to heart with my roomate Bruce, I got to it. Now, I'm no painter, I don't pretend to be...wait...I totally pretend to be. I put on my "painting" shirt, ohhhh the painting shirt...Lets tell your story shall we?

In 2004 I made a "feature" in high school and part of it was styled super 1950's. Now I don't know where this shirt came from, but I *think* (jeez i'm getting old and forgetful) but the one, the only ex-boyfriend (no, not my friend Joey), First true love Joey, wore this shirt in the film. Now, when I moved to California I was Suuuuper sad that Joey was still in DC and took the shirt with me to remind me of him.

Now, even though we were never ever going to break up because true love conquers all including a three hour time difference, his parents who didn't want him visiting me when I turned 18 and he was still 16 3/4....3/4's okay, THREE FOURTHS. Anyway, despite all that...we did break up and I kept the shirt. Always remember to keep the best part ladies.

After a couple years of still being devastated I was finally able to get over the break up...and the shirt. I started wearing it for down and dirty cleaning...and painting! And then somehow ended up writing my first REAL feature film about a painter (my wishful thinking) who just happens to move across the country leaving her ex-boyfriend behind on the east coast....

I thought appropriate for her to wear this shirt. You can catch it here and my wide Mary at :52

Anywho, after an hour of "painting" we have these choices.

I'm kind of feeling Number Un. Qu'est-ce tu pense?

Chicken: Round Deux

Well, it's happening again. And this ain't no April fools.

Would like to personally thank my friend Sabrina for this kick in the butt of inspiration. We just went to brunch at The Alcove and when I told her I got the cheesey egg French Vegetarian Panino she made a face and goes, "Wait, you're not Vegan anymore?"

I thought about what she said long and hard...then I thought about the daily show skit I just saw about meat processing, then I thought about the movie Food Inc I just saw, then I thought about how I lost ten pounds the last time I did it, then I thought about how I'd been waiting for an awkwardly extended period of time for the bathroom and if the person in there stayed any longer I might just not eat ever again if my mind kept going like this.

So I take the pledge, I, Sassy Mohen will be going Vegan starting tomorrow for the next 30 days. Welcome back to my ever on-going battle with my love for dairy vs. my personal hopes and wishes for the food industry.

Same game, same rules, new(ish) player, My hairs red now, my life's way busier, no longer with "the Main Squeeze" a term coined in the first place because he wouldn't let me call him my boyfriend....LADIES can we just stop-..... Nevermind, not going on that tangent (love you MS, Kisses!). ANYWAY, I'm parlez-vous-ing francais to become bi-lingual, saving up for a trip to Rio, debating on what kind of convertible I will buy in 6 months from now...it's all generally groovy here in Sassy land, so I figure, lets spread that vibe to some chickens and let them mellow out as well.

So, excuse me while I go chug a gallon of milk and finish my eggy McCheese leftovers in preparation for tomorrows plunge. OMNOMNOMNOM VEGAN OMNOM ROUND DEUX!

over and out.
